In the previous rulebook, I started the discussion (https://iuf-rulebook-2022.committees.unicycling-software.com/discussions/62) about including a team captain into the rules. We also discussed this at EUHC2023. Here is the summary post after our meeting:

We agreed that we should add the captain to the rules. We need the captain as a contact person for the organizer and the referees. We anyway already kind of use the captain but don‘t have this in the rules, which is a clear gap.

The captain has to be part of the team but (s)he doesn‘t have to be on the field but can also be in the ‚substitution zone‘ (which we don‘t have defined but I use it here to make it clear).

The captain is marked either by an armband or a ‚C‘ on the sleeve of the shirt (this can also be taped) and has to be easily identifiable.

Later, the following more specific wording for the rules was suggested:

One (1) Captain shall be appointed by each Team, and they alone shall have the privilege of discussing with the Referees any questions relating to interpretation of rules which may arise during the progress of a Game. Change of the team captain shall only take place in case of injury, illness or penalty box for the remainder of the game. The team captain shall wear an armband, which shall be worn on the upper arm and be clearly visible.

Please indicate whether you think this can move forward to a proposal.

I support one person has to be the team captain as first person to be contacted, marked as suggested. The captain has to be a person on or next to the playing field (Player, trainer or team manager).

Changing the captain should stick to the team and it should not be a matter of a rule.

Thanks for creating the proposal!

As we have the new discussion thread, I'm closing this discussion.
