Final Rules beeing outdated in Rulebook

Hi Guys, at EUC we came across some rules that were not ideal around finals in the rulebook.
- minimum of 6 people going to the final
At EUC we had the case that the top 5 were really close to each other, and then there was a significant gap to the places 6,7 and 8. I would have preferred to only let 5 people ride the final for the sake of line difficulty. However, we had to include much less capable riders who then struggled hard in the final. I would like to suggest setting this limit down, or completely leaving it open for the trials director and only defining a maximum. Or maybe 3-12 Riders.
- Final duration of 20 - 30min
I cannot recall any final in the past being so short 🤔 Can we please change this to 30-60min, depending on the number of riders and lines?
- Number of Lines
I think the 6-10 lines rule is also slightly restrictive. I would go for a bigger margin here: 4-15 Lines
- Minimum Break between Qualification and Final
Here I would like to adjust the threshold from 1h (which is far too little, I think) to at least 3h of resting time.
--------------------------------------------------
Final Body as right now (2019):
When the competition has been completed, the top riders for male and female would
compete in the final round for the championship. The minimum number of top riders
would be 6 for each male and female with the upper limit up to the host. If there are
fewer than 6 competitors in the highest level category, no final is necessary. The results
from the prelims will be taken as the final results and the top rider will be declared the
champion. There should be at least 6-10 additional lines that represent the diffculty
of the top riders. Male and female fnalists may have different lines depending on the
overall ability of each group.
In the finals, long lines with multiple skills can be built completely new or combined
from existing lines which were used in the preliminaries. The host should pay attention
that the lines for the final are close together and in a place that is good for spectators.
Depending on the obstacles used, there should be 20 - 30 minutes of competition time
for each group. Between the competition and the final should be a minimum of a 1-hour
delay, or on another day.

The following section of the Rulebook, 11D.11 Final says some things about Trials Finals that aren't really used in practice.
- "If there are fewer than 6 competitors in the highest level category, no final is necessary."
In practice, if there are fewer than 6 high level riders we either widen the range of ability of the Finals (so riders who don't represent the highest level of riding qualify to the Finals too) or we just have fewer riders in the Finals.
- "Depending on the used obstacles, there should be 20 - 30 minutes of competition time for each group"
In reality we typically have a 45 or 60 mins Finals.
It would be nice to upgrade this part in accordance of how we run Trials comps.

Suggested new Formulation:
11D.11 Trials Finals (Updated 2025)
After the qualification round, the top riders in each category (male and female) compete in a final round to determine the champion.
Number of Finalists
-
The number of finalists per category (male/female) shall be between 3 and 12 riders, determined by the Trials Director based on the spread of scores and rider abilities.
-
There is no strict minimum number of finalists. If fewer than 3 riders qualify at a high level, the Trials Director may choose to skip the final and take the qualification results as final.
-
The maximum number of finalists may be capped at the discretion of the host, considering schedule and logistics.
Final Format
-
The final should include 4 to 15 lines of increased difficulty, designed to challenge top-level riders and differentiate skill levels.
-
Finals lines may be newly built or reused/modified from the qualification round.
-
Male and female finals may use different lines, depending on the observed riding level in each category.
Time Limits
-
The duration of the final should be 30 to 60 minutes, based on the number of lines and riders. This time is to be clearly communicated to all finalists before the round begins.
Spectator and Venue Considerations
-
Finals lines should be set up close together in a location that offers good visibility and accessibility for spectators.
Break Between Qualification and Final
-
There must be a minimum break of 3 hours between the qualification round and the final to ensure sufficient rest time for riders.
-
Alternatively, finals may be held on a different day from the qualifications.
