How should unforeseen interruptions of the game be handled?

In the discussion about moving the goal, we’ve already considered clarifications on how the referee should handle certain situations. Perhaps similar clarifications are needed in other areas as well.
For example: How should injuries be handled? There are cases where a player is lying on the field, and cases where a player leaves the field during play.
How should situations be dealt with when a second ball enters the field, or even when a dog runs onto the field (which has actually happened in the German league)? Should there always be a face-off in such cases, or should there be a free shot awarded to the disadvantaged team depending on the circumstances for instance when a team suffers a clear disadvantage because of the referee hitting the ball?
Comment
Perhaps interruptions should be called if they "affect play" i.e. if the play is at the other end of the court do nothing until it approaches the end where the disruption is (extra ball on court)
The referee hitting the ball is covered in General.
14C.2.6 General
...If a referee is hit by the ball, the game is only interrupted if the contact has changed the
course of play to benet either team. In this case, the game is resumed with a face-o.

We already have: "The referees suspend the game if an injury occurs. Afterwards, a free shot is given to the team that was in possession of the ball at the time of the interruption. If it is unclear who was in possession, the game is continued with a face-off."
Does this wording would solve the problem?: "The referees suspend the game if an unforeseen interruption of the game is needed or an injury occurs. Afterwards, a free shot is given to the team that was in possession of the ball at the time of the interruption. If it is unclear who was in possession, the game is continued with a face-off."

Should this topic go on the to-do-list for next rulebook committee?

I like your wording Herbie, I have put in a proposal based on this wording. If it is not seen as adequate then we do not have to put it to a vote.
